The New Inn is centrally positioned on the high street in the town centre of Amesbury. It is surrounded by many local shops, restaurants, cafés and pay and display car parks and is conveniently situated for anyone going into the town centre. Amesbury is located 2 miles east of Stonehenge. It is an attractive town that sits on the River Avon and has a weekly market, an historic museum housing one of Britain’s largest Mesolithic collections and many local amenities including hotels, bed and breakfasts, independent shops and public houses. There is a large military presence in the area: The Ministry of Defence’s Boscombe Down is located east of the town, the garrison town of Larkhill is just north of Stonehenge and Bulford Camp is on Salisbury Plain. On the eastern edge of town is a large business park – Solstice Park. According to the 2021 census, the town has a population of approximately 13,000 and is approximately 7.5 miles north of the cathedral city of Salisbury, which has a population of approximately 45,000. Salisbury train station has South Western railway services connecting to London Waterloo and Great Western Railway Services connecting to Portsmouth, Bristol and Cardiff.
