Named after the peaceful neighbourhood, between Islington and Dalston, by which it sits, De Beauvoir Court was built in 1938 as accommodation for local members of the clergy. This particular apartment occupies an excellent position on the top floor of the block, allowing natural light to pour across the plan through triple aspect windows to the east, west and north. There is a small communal grassed garden area to the rear of the block.

The apartment has been entirely refurbished, including new plumbing and re-wiring, alongside a brand new bespoke kitchen. The plan is arranged around a centrally positioned living room, which has a boxed bay window looking east over De Beauvoir, towards Dalston and The City. There are original floorboards run throughout the living room area. The kitchen is positioned to one side, while a double bedroom, also with a boxed bay window, overlooks the length of the leafy gardens of Northchurch road. There is ample storage including a brand new fitted wardrobe with internal drawers, running the full width of the bedroom. The bathroom has a brand new bath, taps and shower set and bespoke blinds are currently being fitted throughout. The result is a characterful set of living spaces which retain much of the original character of De Beauvoir Court, while offering a modern approach to living through functionality, light and quality materials.

The communal stairwell is currently being fully renovated and rewired at great expense which will dramatically improve the aesthetic of the entrance to the block. Completion is due mid summer.

De Beauvoir was planned and built by William Rhodes around 100 years before the construction of De Beauvouir Court. The neighbourhood was designed for merchants and the middle classes and included semi-detached villas and terraces, which remain to this day, arranged in grand blocks between Essex Road and Kingsland Road. Nowadays, the area is more diverse and has a reputation for the various examples of period architecture which are dotted between the numerous Victorian dwellings. De Beauvoir Square is particularly renowned for its houses in the Jacobean Revival style, while more recent additions include David Adjaye's Sunken House.

De Beauvoir Court is positioned excellently for the pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes of both Islington and Dalston. The De Beauvoir Deli, positioned opposite, is a firm favourite with locals, offering locally sourced produce, alongside seasonal fruit and vegetables, and sandwiches and salads to order. The Scolt Head and De Beauvoir Arms are both excellent local pubs renowned for their food as much as their liquid offering.

Haggerston station is eight minutes walk away, where the London Overground has connections to Canary Wharf via Canada Water. Regular buses run from outside the block, directly to The City whilst Hoxton Square is only 25 minutes walk away. Regent's canal is also within easy reach, and can be used as a pleasant footpath to the rest of east London, the great Towpath Cafe, galleries such as Victoria Miro and Parasol Unit, and Broadway market. De Beauvoir Court is close to the green spaces of Rosemary Gardens, London Fields, Stonebridge Gardens and Shoreditch park. Westwards, it offers a quick and direct walking route to Angel Tube.
