Backpackers Plus is in the centre of the busy port town of Oban, in the Argyll and Bute area of Scotland. Oban is the largest town on the west coast between Helensburgh and Fort William and during the main tourist season can play host to up 25,000 people. Frequent ferries from the town serve the Southern Hebrides, including Mull and the pilgrimage Island of Iona.

This business is a popular hostel, finished to a very high standard and is spread over 3 adjacent properties. The first is a beautifully converted old church with staff accommodation, a workshop, a well-equipped laundry, and 7 dormitories, which can also be let as private rooms. The former Church Hall has been converted into five individually designed en-suite private rooms and has a whole building heat recovery and ventilation system. Next door to that is a former guest house with a further 8 private rooms.

There are various common rooms throughout, the most popular though is the fabulous Sky Room located within the old church. There are also communal and well-equipped fitted kitchens that can be used by individuals or groups which are very popular.

The hostel also supplies a laundry service to guests and some adjacent guest houses, and by arrangement with ‘The View Oban’ special ceilidhs for guests (Scottish dancing and music) particularly coach parties, are frequent during the summer season.

This is a truly unique hostel as it has prided itself in the quality of service provided. They are well known for their comfortable and high-quality bedding, with the owners helping to create a great atmosphere for all who come to visit. This business is an absolute credit to the current owners who have successfully built and managed this hostel for the past 11 years. The owners are hoping to retire following a successful sale.

Building External
Backpackers Plus occupies 3 buildings in the centre of Oban. One is a converted church; one was originally the church hall and the third is a former guest house. These buildings operate as one business. All buildings have been well maintained by the current owners.

Building Internal
Reception is in the Old Church, which retains some of its original features. The former church hall also features some unique low relief stone carvings

The current dorm rooms are currently let as private rooms with custom made bunk beds and are all centrally heated. Sheets, duvets and 2 pillows per bed are provided. All the dormitory beds have their own reading lights, usb ports and electric power points.

The Sky room, with its views across Oban Bay, is the main dining and recreation room as well as containing a pool table and a fully fitted and well-equipped communal kitchen.

Residential Accommodation
There is accommodation for up to 15 staff, and it would be possible to configure the original guest house to provide residential accommodation for the owner if required.
