Bennet Head Farm forms the centre of the small hamlet of Bennet Head lying within the Parish of Watermillock which is located within the heart of the Ullswater Valley in the north east corner of the Lake District National Park. The market town of Penrith is situated approximately 6½ miles to the north west. At the southern end of the lake, the two Lakeland villages of Glenridding and Patterdale again offer a variety of small shops, public houses, hotels and restaurants.

Farm Buildings
Building 1 - Domestic Outhouse (9.60 m x 4.80 m) - Opposite the farmhouse is a small stone and slate outhouse which has been split in 2, both parts of which have a concrete floor, mains water and electricity to them. The first half comprises 3 sinks with drainers and has plumbing for a washing machine and electric sockets. The second half of the building contains a Belfast sink and a Triton Ambada electric shower which has previously been used in conjunction with a caravan site which formerly belonged to the farm.

Building 2 - Barn Adjoining Farmhouse (6.10 m x 12.50 m) – this building forms part of the Grade 2 Listed complex; stone built under a slate roof, has a pedestrian door to the rear and large double doors to the front, the floor is part flagged and part earth. The barn has an electric supply to it.

Building 3 - Barn Adjoining Farmhouse (10.50 m x 5.50 m) – this building forms part of the Grade 2 Listed complex; stone built under a slate roof, concrete floor, cattle cubicles and w.C. This barn has a loft floor above and benefits from having a water and electricity supply.

Building 4 - Traditional Building (4.00 m x 4.50 m) – single storey store of stone and slate construction with concrete floor.

Building 5 - Farm Workshop – concrete floor and electricity supply.

Building 6 - Livestock Building (18.50 m x 5.80 m) - part brick and slate roof / part concrete block and corrugated sheet with fibre cement sheet roof. The building is partially fitted with cattle cubicles with the remainder of the building having been used for loose housing with an inbuilt feed barrier and feed troughs. Building 7 - Dutch Barn (19.50 m x 6.00 m) - steel stanchions and a corrugated steel sheet roof and end wall, other elevations open, earth floor; houses a grain silo.

Building 8 - Lean-to/Storage Shed

Building 9 - Former Parlour Complex – brick and concrete block walls, fibre cement sheet roof, concrete floor. Houses a 10 x 10 herringbone parlour, automatic feeders, milking pit, collecting yard and bulk tank room; all the parlour equipment is in place but cows have not been milked at Bennet Head for 8 years and therefore the equipment is now obsolete.

Building 10 - General Purpose Building (55.00 m (max) x 25.00 m (max)) – steel stanchions, concrete block walls with box profile sheet above, external facings being either concrete panels, wooden sleepers or concrete block, insulated fibre cement sheet roof. This building has formerly been used to house cattle and has an underfloor effluent pit and in more recent times has been utilised for laying hens.

From Penrith travel west along the A66 until reaching the Rheged Information Centre. At this roundabout turn left onto the A592 and proceed along this road for approximately 3½ miles. At the T junction turn right continuing on the A592 heading south, signposted Patterdale and Windermere, A592. Continue along this road for approximately 1¼ miles until reaching the crest of a hill with the Brackenrigg public house on the right-hand side. Just passed the pub, take the right hand turning signposted Bennet Head and proceed up the hill for approximately 1000m and Bennet Head Farm is situated on the right-hand side.
