Spring Cottage is a 'chocolate box' stone and thatched cottage quietly tucked away in a country setting on the edge of the picturesque village of Axmouth. Whilst the property offers modern amenities it still retains its inherent character.

On the ground floor the accommodation is largely open plan with separate areas leading into each other. Upstairs there are 2 good sized bedrooms and a bathroom and outside is a small pretty garden with a south westerly aspect.

The cottage is situated a few metres up a bridleway, well away from the lane, in a delightful wooded valley. It's raised position means that it enjoys sunshine till late in the day, even in winter. However, it is not isolated as it is on the edge of the much sought after Devon village of Axmouth which is surprisingly unspoilt and noted for its many period properties. There is a parish church and village hall, 2 local inns and superb surrounding countryside including the River Axe valley. About 1.5 miles to the south alongside the Axe Estuary and past Axmouth Harbour is the coastal town of Seaton which is part of the 'Jurassic Coast' (a World Heritage Site). It is just 2 miles to the main beach and also a large Tesco supermarket and there is a popular local sailing club at Axmouth Harbour. Inland at Axminster is a main line railway station (about 6 miles) and Lyme Regis is a similar distance to the east. The immediate area offers beautiful country walks, either up the valley road or up the pretty bridleway to a stunning viewpoint overlooking the village and the estuary beyond. A path directly up the hill above the cottage leads over a stile into the fields above which are lined with blackberries in the Autumn.

Thatched porch (framed by a climbing rose) and timber front door (with stained glass panel) to the living area.
The current owners have created a versatile space by installing ceiling to floor curtains which can be drawn to separate a corner area. This is currently used as an office/study, but could also become a child's play area, additional sleeping area for visitors or a separate dining area.

The cottage is approached from the lane up a short bridleway into a little front garden, with a stone path leading to the front porch. In the garden is a mature fig tree, soft fruits (joster berry, gooseberry and raspberry), a winter flowering jasmine and a climbing rose.
The small rear garden (which is triangular and measures about 25' x 20' (7.62m x 6.10m) overall) is secluded and very pretty. It includes a stone paved patio, lawn, 'Brilliantissimum' tree, pergola with 3 grape vines, soft fruits (blackcurrants, tayberry, thornless blackberry, Japanese wine berry, raspberry) and an apple tree. This garden enjoys a south westerly aspect looking out across to the wooded valley beyond. External oil fired boiler.
Parking: It is customary for the owners of Spring Cottage to park 2 vehicles in the bridleway outside the house although this is not a legal right. There is additional roadside parking nearby.
