The surrounding area offers some of Scotland's most unspoiled and undiscovered countryside, as well as excellent fishing, walking and shooting activities. Loch Ken is a 9-mile, freshwater loch and is used recreationally for water skiing, fishing and sailing. The Galloway Forest Park is the uk's first dark sky park with over 7000 stars and planets visible from the park.
