Dungate House was once three individual farm workers' cottages. It is in a rural setting close to woodland, there are no neighbouring properties, so it is very peaceful. We are conveniently close to Sittingbourne and nearby villages, so we have easy access to all the essential amenities.
We loved the property from the moment we saw its exterior, it is very pretty and has a unique character. As we came inside that feeling got stronger, there are beams everywhere, open fireplaces and lovely views from the windows. We have brought the house up-to-date without changing its character and it is a wonderful place to entertain with its l-shaped layout combining the kitchen, dining and sitting room. The three cosy double bedrooms are filled with character. Our current set up is perfect for us with family and friends frequently visiting and there is flexibility to use additional downstairs rooms as bedrooms.
The house is very well-positioned on the plot, set back from the road with a wrap-around garden and on warm summer days we open up the doors to enjoy the outside spaces. The garden faces all four cardinal points, so you find sunshine, shelter and shaded aspects just by moving around the different areas – we often enjoy lunching on the timber deck. There are numerous outbuildings, which add further scope to living here too.
Our 15 years at Dungate House have been wonderful, we have loved its uniqueness and uncovering the history of the property.
