Sleaford is a bustling market town and gets its name from the River Slea, which flows through its centre.
There are an array of shops on the High street and each month Sleaford hold a very popular Farmers Market.
Socially, the town has a Georgian theatre, a town museum, several good hotels, restaurants and eateries, which cater for most tastes. Live entertainment concerts take place annually in and around Sleaford, and the towns own Band play regularly at charitable events.
On the sporting front Sleaford Golf, Cricket, Rugby and Football clubs own their own grounds/course and are active at competitive levels. They all enjoy the support of junior boy's and girl's teams. On the outskirts of the town at Greylees a 18 hole golf course and driving range is proving popular too. Bowls is well supported with an indoor and some four outdoor clubs. The town's indoor swimming pool is very well supported by all ages. Other well-organised sporting clubs include hockey, netball, badminton and volleyball.
Sleaford is surrounded by pretty countryside, quaint market towns, beautiful scenery and aviation history. It has its own train station and excellent road links to the A15, A17 Grantham station is a 30 minute drive and the commute to London's Kings Cross is only 75 minutes.
