The original footprint has remained the same, but they have extended into and above the huge integral garage, remodelled the layout to make the main living space much more open plan and added a stylish new kitchen and gorgeous new bathrooms. They also updated the electric and plumbing systems, added underfloor heating so it's really cosy and warm, and incorporated a huge amount of glazing that not only brings much more light into the house, but also creates that really nice feeling of connection between inside and out.

The road is very quiet and the house is set well back so despite being just a stone's throw from Loughton town centre, it's incredibly peaceful. There is plenty of parking to the front of the property and a good size garden to the back, which again has been enhanced to make it not only much nicer to look at, but also a space that can be used for both family time and entertaining. Just outside the patio doors there is a large terrace, there's also a decent size lawn, and at the end of the garden another patio seating area where you can catch the last of the day's sun. The garden is a lovely feature of the property, and it's a space that enjoys a good degree of privacy.

What the Owner says:
The location was obviously a huge draw when we initially came across the property, but what really sold it to us was its sheer potential. The house was designed and built by the previous owners back in the 1960s, and they had barely done a thing to it since. It was all very dated, but we could see that with a bit of hard work and imagination we could transform it into a really stunning home, and that's exactly what we've done. The house is now totally unrecognisable from the property we bought and we really couldn't be more pleased with the results of all our hard work.

We're very proud of all the work we've done to the house; it's now a really beautiful home, but it's the location that I think we'll miss most when we leave. Being able to nip out on a Sunday morning for fresh pastries and a coffee and then heading off for a walk through the forest has been a real joy. I'd say it's definitely one of those places that offers the best of both worlds.
