The renowned Colne Engaine Festival takes place biennially and is due to take place in Summer 2020, this is a huge highlight for the village. Nearby Chalkney Wood is one of the countries few remaining ancient woodlands, renowned for its stunning bluebells and wood anemones in the Spring, and is rich in wildlife, ancient trees and plants. The village has its own Millennium Green just off Halstead Road complete with woodland and meadow areas which, together with the Brick Meadows Nature Reserve (accessed from Park Lane and Church Hill) and smaller play areas in Queens Road and Tey Road, provides more opportunities for walking and playing. The award winning Colne Valley Golf Club is just a six minute drive from Countess Cross Bungalow and offers the idyllic setting for golf and private functions.

Earls Colne has all the amenities needed by its residents in the form of independent shops, boutiques, pubs and restaurants, doctors surgery, a large Co-op and a Primary School that was rated as good in a recent Ofsted Report. The A120 is within easy reach and offers routes to Cambridge, London and Stansted Airport in around 40 minutes. Kelvedon and Marks Tey Stations also provide easy access to London and the village is on a regular bus route to Halstead and Colchester.
