Location:
The crofting township of Ellishadder is located on the Trotternish Peninsula of Skye, approximately 2 miles south of Staffin and 16 miles north of Portree, the principal town on the island. Ellishadder is also home to the dinosaur museum

Portree offers a wide range of facilities including banking facilities, sports facilities, a variety of shops and the only secondary school on the island.
The Trotternish area is popular with walkers and outdoor enthusiasts and is a well-known area for finding fossils along the shoreline. Whilst the Kilt Rock, named for its pleated rock formation, is located close by and is popular with tourists who stop to admire the wonderful views across to the island of Rona and the hills of the mainland beyond.
