Description

Description Middlestead is an elegant wing of an Edwardian manor house with private gardens of 1.5 acres. With high ceilings, an impressive open fireplace, well-proportioned principal rooms including a 28 ft drawing room with views over the glorious gardens, Middlestead is a fine family home with an Arts & Crafts feel.

Accommodation The front door opens into a spacious entrance hall with original butler's coats cupboard, floor and double doors opening into the reception hall. Steps lead down to a useful utility space and a handsome staircase winds up to the first floor. The magnificent double aspect drawing room has a polished floor, lovely views over the gardens and a superb fireplace with wood burning stove in a stone surround, the perfect focal point for the room. Beyond lies a study with wood panelling, fitted bookshelves and a large bay window, and door to the gardens. The kitchen/breakfast room has a country house feel, with bay window overlooking the garden and access to the terrace. There is a cloakroom off the hallway.

On the first floor is a large landing, leading off are three generous bedrooms and a modern fitted shower room. The master bedroom has an excellent range of fitted wardrobes along with a contemporary en-suite shower room.
On the second floor, there is an attic bedroom of great character with wood panelling and vaulted ceilings. There is plenty of storage, and a charming bathroom with views over the gardens.

Outside The superb gardens measure nearly 1.5 acres and are filled with mature bushes and trees giving privacy and seclusion. There are some fine trees including beech, pine and chestnut, a summer house and various sheds for storage. There is plenty of room for further storage or an additional garage, subject to planning. This is a truly special space with plenty of room for garden parties and adventurous children will be delighted with the large lawn and wooded area bordering the land. There is a large terrace, ideal for al fresco dining and entertaining, and a separate remote operated double gate gives useful access at the rear of the property. To the front of the house is a shingle area for parking and there are two garages each with power and light.
