Ash is situated in the borough of Guildford in Surrey along with its neighbouring village of Ash Vale and Tongham. They sit close to the Basingstoke Canal, a site of scientific special interest, with its towpath running through the village. It is within the Aldershot Urban Area (the Blackwater Valley) and adjoins the riverside in the east of that large town; Ash has a small museum, large secondary school and a library.
