What the owner says: My family has lived in this house for 25 years and it has been a wonderful location for us. My two children have loved living so centrally, they walk everywhere, which has given them the independence that comes with having so much nearby.

We are in the catchment for desirable schools including Downs for primary education and Varndean and Dorothy Stringer for secondary schools. They are all within walking distance. The house is a five mins walk from the skate park and paddling pool of the Level, 10 from the famous North Laine and just 10-15 mins on foot from Brighton Station with its direct trains to Gatwick and London. At the end of the street is the famous Duke of York's, one of the oldest cinemas in the country and part of the Picturehouse chain. Opposite that is Curio, a European-style cafe with outdoor seating, it is perfect for a coffee in the day or a glass of wine in the evening. Shaftesbury Road is a lovely street, with a great community. One Friday afternoon every month, part of the road is closed to cars so the children can play and make friends. There is a street WhatsApp group that fosters a sense of community support. The topics are varied but we have benefited from free plants from a neighbour's allotment and enjoyed discussions about what's visible in the night sky.
