4-Bed 1906 Double-Fronted Victorian On 0.5 Acre In Silchester Common – Full Of Charm And Potential
A Note from the Homeowners
We've loved raising our family here – with Silchester Common across the road, the local primary school and the village pub just a short walk away, it’s been an ideal place to bring up our children. The village has a lovely community feel, and the neighbours have been brilliant.
The garden’s been a real highlight – great for entertaining or letting the children run around. We added the large patio area around the Japanese maple to catch the sun for most of the day in summer – it's been one of our favourite spots.
The house has always felt spacious – it’s grown with us over the years, and still has more to offer for the next chapter. The loft is a great opportunity for someone to convert and really make it their own.
We’ve also appreciated the close proximity to Heathrow and the South Coast – both around 45 minutes away – which has made travel for work and family getaways super convenient.
Now that the kids have flown the nest, we’re ready to downsize – but we’ll always be grateful for the memories we’ve made here.
Alex’s Take
i’ve been lucky to see a lot of homes over the years, but this one really stands out. Step into history with this 1906 Victorian gem. This double-fronted home, with its beautiful brickwork and timeless character, sits on a half-acre plot near the village of Silchester, directly opposite the peaceful expanse of Silchester Common leading to Pamber Forest.
There’s something really special about being able to step straight out your front door in the morning and clear your head with a walk through on the common – whether it’s to prepare your mind and body for the day or head out on an adventure with the kids. That kind of setting is rare.
Inside, you’ll find 2,700 sq ft of versatile space, including four double bedrooms, three bathrooms, three reception rooms, and a study. The two bay-fronted reception rooms each feature a lovely fireplace and enjoy abundant natural light throughout the day. The kitchen is centred around a classic Aga, and there’s an exciting opportunity (subject to building regs approval) to knock through into the rear reception room to create a large open-plan kitchen, dining and family space – perfect for modern life and designed to bring the garden into play for that inside-outside flow.
And what a garden it is – a real standout. Mature trees at the back give it a calm sense of privacy, making it the perfect setting whether you're hosting friends, planning a laid-back barbecue, letting the kids run free, or enjoying garden games together as a family.
There’s also potential (subject to planning) to convert the loft, offering even more scope to extend the home as your needs evolve. An outbuilding adds flexibility too – ideal as a home office, workshop, or a kids’ den – and there’s driveway parking along with a double garage, giving you space for four cars comfortably.
Viewings are by appointment – get in touch and we look forward to showing you around.
