About this property
Clad in charred timber, this contemporary floating home occupies an idyllic spot within the Chichester Harbour National Landscape. Its footprint extends to nearly 700 sq ft, with extensive glazing capturing immersive views of the watery surroundings. Berthed on the edge of the marina, there is convenient access to its facilities, the water and walks along the Salterns Way.
Please note that, as a floating home, Oyster Catcher is exempt from stamp duty but is subject to an annual berthing license from Chichester Marina; full details can be provided on request.
The Tour
The home is approached via a private residents-only tree-lined pathway.
Inside, the main living accommodation is open plan. Floor-to-ceiling aluminium-framed glazing runs along all sides, sustaining an unbroken connection with the mesmerising landscape beyond. Engineered light oak flooring extends throughout, complementing a clean, neutral palette.
A well-equipped kitchen, with resin worktops and integrated appliances, sits at one end. A lounging area spreads out onto a terrace via French doors for sitting among the ducks and swans.
The principal bedroom is located at the opposite end and is also surrounded by full-height windows, bringing sleepers calmingly close to the surface of the water. A convenient space-saving built-in wardrobe has been added. A further double bedroom - also with built-in storage - lies off the hallway.
The rooms share a shower room with modern fittings. There is also a utility room with a storage cupboard and plumbing for a washing machine.
Outdoor Space
Across the residents’ path is a serene tree-canopied private garden with space for sitting out, dining and barbecuing.
Two parking spaces are allocated with the marina berthing license.
The Area
Chichester Marina offers 24-hour access to the picturesque cruising grounds of Chichester Harbour National Landscape, the largest natural harbour in the South East and the largest recreational boating harbour in Europe. As well as water-based pursuits there many footpaths and cycle routes along the Salterns Way to explore the coastline, wildlife and surrounding area.
Chichester Yacht Club is based at the marina with a bar, restaurant and social events, and the Boat House Café serves locally sourced seasonal menus seven days a week.

It has an extensive range of shops, cafés and restaurants, along with a branch of Waitrose. The Pallant House Gallery in Chichester is worth the visit when in town and has an excellent programme of shows throughout the year, as does the brilliant annual Chichester Festival, curated by Chichester Theatre.
Further local attractions include Petworth, and its art galleries, antique shops and the National Trust’s Petworth House and Gardens. The Goodwood Estate is within easy reach for golf, motor racing and its brilliant central clubhouse, The Kennels, which offers fine and informal dining, spas and wellness centres, and a programme of inspiring cultural events throughout the year. Its farm shop has a great selection of fresh organic meat and dairy produce, which is supplied in several farm shops in the wider area.
The South Downs offer countless walking and hiking routes with excellent views. Local beaches are just five miles away, including the favoured West Wittering beach, for swimming in warmer months.
Transport links from Chichester are excellent, with twice-hourly direct journey times to London Victoria taking just over 90 minutes. Southampton International Airport is a one-hour drive away, and there is also easy access to the South Coast and ferry terminals at Portsmouth and Southampton for connections to France and mainland Europe by car.
