Sellers insight

Highfield House has been our home since 1981. The year when Charles and Diana were married, Margaret Thatcher was pm, and thanks to local Somerset hero Ian Botham England won the Ashes. 44 years no less is a lengthy period of time, containing much of our family history and is unquestionably an excellent indication as to just how much we have enjoyed living here.

This characterful Edwardian house has changed considerably over these years with many improvements including notably the through lounge with its double-sided fireplace, the en-suite guest bedroom, a newly fitted kitchen and utility room and the provision of a wonderful conservatory.

The conservatory has been a particular joy all year round not least because the house faces almost due South and benefits from sunshine all day long virtually from sunrise to sunset. The garden itself is a haven of peace and tranquillity with a high degree of privacy. Perfect for eating alfresco during the summer months perhaps with the barbecue and a glass of wine.

The house whilst in a lovely and quiet location is a short walk to the village centre with its many facilities including Primary School, Parish Church, community shop, pub and cafe together with the opportunity to play a part in village life and join in varied activities. It is a thriving village in a beautiful part of Somerset.

For us it is now the right time to move.
Step inside

The front of Highfield House overlooks the enclosed cottage style gardens with a southerly aspect ensuring that you are able to make the most of the sunshine/daylight in the main rooms. The conservatory is the perfect place to enjoy the gardens whilst the sitting room has been opened up to create a walk through to a snug area with central fireplace and double-sided multi fuel burner providing warmth and comfort on the days that are less pleasant.

The dining room overlooks the gardens and leads directly to the cottage style kitchen that is well equipped with Bosch double ovens and hob with built in fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Directly off this is the utility room with boiler and built in washer/dryer. A door opens onto the rear parking area.

On the first floor the landing window enjoys views over the gardens across to Somerset countryside. A principal bedroom to the front has been updated to provide an en-suite shower room and deep walk-in wardrobe cupboard. The second bedroom also enjoys the far-reaching views to the front whilst the third double bedroom is set to the rear. There is also a small office and family bathroom with separate shower enclosure and bath.
Step outside

If you are looking for manageable cottage style gardens then Highfield House will be perfect for you. As it faces South, the two patio/sun areas either side of the conservatory provide ideal places to sit back and enjoy the garden.

There is a wealth of well shrubs, plants and bushes in the well-stocked flower borders. To the side of the property an attached store houses the oil tank and provides storage for garden implements. There is an additional pedestrian access to the left hand side of the property. The paved parking area is to the side of the house.
