A Note from the Homeowner
We love this house, which was our first home together. When we first looked for a house, we wanted somewhere that offered good transport connections, didn’t feel like being in the middle of a concrete jungle and had a soul - and this house hit the spot on all counts.
It is so easy for us to get around: Nearby access to the A329M/M4, several major bus routes (#17, #4) and Earley Train Station. We love stepping out our front door and choosing which green space we want to walk to today - Palmer Park, Sol Joel Park, Highwood, The Thames Path, South Lake, Maiden Erlegh Nature Reserve, Whiteknights Lake and The Harris Gardens - all of which are just a short stroll away.
This house was built around 120 years ago, the many original features still visible reminding us of this. We’ve loved researching its deep history and feel a shared connection to the many families that have formed their lives here.
After 18 years we feel we have outgrown this home and are moving on. We will miss being part of the “Earley Rise” community - sharing food and laughter at street parties and drinks with neighbours at the local pub.
Alex's Best Bits
Some homes just have that feeling when you walk in – this is one of them.
From the freshly laid period-style pathway to the bay-fronted design and the original features inside, this 2 bedroom Victorian home has clearly been cared for. The current owners have done a lovely job of balancing history with comfort.
Step into the front reception room and you’re welcomed by a bright, character-filled space. A cosy setting for those evening movies. Flow through to the dining room, perfect for entertaining and on to a kitchen that feels noticeably wider than many other Victorian homes i've seen, making it a more sociable space. The kitchen also frames a great view of the garden – a true little sanctuary, full of greenery and privacy thanks to the natural tree cover.
The garden here really is a standout, beautifully kept, full of colour, and offering a sense of calm at the end of the day. No work needed – just enjoy the tranquillity and those BBQ's!
Upstairs, the home offers two well-proportioned bedrooms and a spacious bathroom that’s in excellent condition.
Move in ready with searches pre-ordered – helping to ensure a smoother move.
Location Location
You’re just a short stroll from Palmer Park and its leisure centre, on the super-convenient No. 17 bus route to Reading town, with local shops nearby and excellent access into A329M & M4. Located in the Maiden Erlegh Catchment, this property offers that rare blend of character, comfort & convenience.
If charm, community, and a lifestyle near green spaces sound like your kind of balance, this is a home you’ll want to see.
