*** Vendors comments *** “This has been the perfect first home for us — full of character, charm and so many special memories. The building is a lovely Victorian with its original name and date still displayed on the front, giving it a wonderful sense of history and personality that we’ve always adored.
Inside, the flat feels bright and airy thanks to the large windows and high ceilings — something we especially appreciated being quite tall! There’s a great sense of space throughout, and the fully boarded loft has provided plenty of handy storage.
When we moved in, we hadn’t expected to grow our family so quickly, but it turned out to be the ideal place to welcome our daughter. We transformed the second bedroom from a home office into a cosy nursery, and cleverly made use of the recessed hallway space as a new office setup.
One of the biggest bonuses has been the incredible transport links. Being just 10 minutes by train to London Bridge made commuting a breeze. There’s also easy access to the Windrush line, local trams, and fast connections into Croydon, which is only five minutes away and has a wide range of shops and amenities.
The local area has a fantastic, vibrant feel. The little parade by the station is full of hidden gems — we’ve loved Yeha Noha for brunch, Little Mouse for cheese and enjoying drinks at The Craft Beer Cabin. Saturday mornings are perfect for browsing the market there. Stanley Arts has also been a favourite spot — the beautiful building hosts great events and performances, and the café is lovely too.
We often spend weekends in Crystal Palace enjoying the park, shops or a pub lunch, but we’re also lucky to have three brilliant parks within walking distance: South Norwood Lakes, the Country Park and the Rec, which hosts the South Norwood Community Festival every year — always a highlight.
Everyday essentials are close at hand, with Aldi, Sainsbury’s, Tesco Local and a friendly newsagent just around the corner who’s always happy to take in parcels. The South Norwood Recreation Centre is nearby too, offering a pool, gym and plenty of fitness classes.
This is a truly lively, welcoming neighbourhood with a genuine sense of community. We’ve absolutely loved living here and are only moving now because our growing family needs a little more space. We’re staying local — we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”
