About this property
Description
Ocean View Cottage is a detached property finished in white chip and concrete relief, neatly presented under a dark grey tiled roof. The accommodation is light and bright, arranged across one easily managed level. From the rear of the property, there are magnificent views over rolling countryside and waterscape towards the Islands of Islay, Jura, and the northern tip of Northern Ireland.
The house is ideal and well suited for principal family living. Kintyre is a well-known destination for holidays and short breaks in the west of Scotland, so Ocean View Cottage also offers excellent potential as a second home, or an income-producing holiday let.

Two timber personal gates on either side of Ocean View Cottage provide access to the rear gardens, which are laid to lawn with a drying green, timber decking (ideal for alfresco sitting, dining, and entertaining), and raised vegetable beds—all enclosed by a stone wall. From the gardens, there are stunning views of the surrounding countryside and waterscape, including the Islands of Islay, Jura, and Northern Ireland. Situation
Ocean View Cottage is situated on the west coast of the Kintyre peninsula in an attractive coastal position. The property enjoys glorious sea views towards the northern tip of Northern Ireland, as well as Gigha, Islay, and Jura, and benefits from the mild climate created by the Gulf Stream. The western coast of Kintyre boasts numerous beautiful, unspoiled beaches—one of which lies directly opposite the property.
The town of Campbeltown is 4.3 miles to the south and offers two supermarkets, a full range of shops and professional services, a secondary school, two primary schools, an A&E hospital, leisure facilities (including a modern swimming pool), and a cinema. There are currently three active distilleries, with a further three in the planning stage.
From Tarbert, there are ferry links to Islay and Portavadie, offering an alternative route to Glasgow via Dunoon and Gourock. The ferry to the beautiful Isle of Gigha from Tayinloan is located approximately 10 minutes to the north of the property. There are two weekday return flights and one Sunday return flight between Campbeltown Airport and Glasgow Airport.
For sporting and outdoor enthusiasts, the links course at Machrihanish is internationally acclaimed and attracts many visitors. An additional 18-hole course, Machrihanish Dunes Golf Club, has recently opened. Tarbert also offers a challenging 18-hole course, and there are 9-hole courses in Carradale and on the Isle of Gigha. The 18-hole Dunaverty Golf Course is located at Southend. The 3-mile golden beach of Machrihanish Bay is well known for windsurfing and surf canoeing.
World-class sailing is available with access either to Loch Fyne at Tarbert or to the west coast and the Inner Hebrides via West Loch Tarbert. The Crinan Canal connects Loch Fyne at Ardrishaig with Loch Crinan, providing a route to Mull and the Hebrides.
Productive sea fishing from both shore and boat is available locally, with trout and salmon fishing also possible (by permit) in surrounding rivers and hill lochs.
The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking or cycling, with nearby access to the 90-mile circular Kintyre Way. There is no shortage of scenic routes, as well as archaeological and historical sites of interest to explore.
