This is what the vendors had to say about their lovely home
What attracted you to the property when you bought it?
As first-time buyers moving out of rented accommodation and a family home, we were attracted to the convenience and layout of the house. Two allocated parking spaces right outside the door, a good-sized garden and the easy walking distance to the whole village (including shops, gp, pubs, park and station) made an ideal choice.
What improvements have you made to the house?
We've kept things simple and fresh with basic redecoration throughout. The house was brand new when we moved in, so we haven’t needed to do any major work.
What have you enjoyed about living there?
The house is in an ideal part of the development. It is located on the edge with no properties directly overlooking us. There’s very little traffic, so it’s quiet and safe. The running costs are low and we like how spacious it feels both inside and out. Marden is an easy commute to London, and equal ease going down to the coast.
Location and Amenities
Marden offers a range of essential amenities and services, ensuring you do not have to travel far for all the everyday necessities. The village has its own dental surgery and medical centre that has a cqc rating of outstanding, both of which are only a short walk from The Parsonage development. There is also a pharmacy, post office, hairdressers, butcher and convenience store. For the weekly shop, you will find a Waitrose nearby and a large new Sainsburys in Staplehurst just 3 miles away. The closest hospital is Pembury Hospital, which is around 13 miles away in Royal Tunbridge Wells.
DiningWhen it comes to dining out, you don't need to go far from The Parsonage, with a choice of two friendly pub restaurants, The West End Tavern and The Unicorn, as well as two Indian restaurants, Marden Tandoori and Taj of Kent, right on your doorstep in the village itself. There's lots more choice in the surrounding villages too, with Jumerira Indian Restaurant at Staplehurst, The Mulberry Tree at Boughton Monchelsea, The Hawkenbury Inn in Hawkenbury and The Wild Duck at nearby Marden Thorn all highly recommended. Head into Maidstone or Royal Tonbridge Wells for an even wider selection, with something for everyone, from a family treat at a famous chain to an intimate romantic dinner for two.
Education
This development has a choice of schools in the local area. The nearest school is Marden Primary School (Ofsted report is Good/Outstanding), which is only a five-minute walk away. Parents can also choose to send their children to St Margaret's C of E Primary School, which is less than three miles from the development, or Staplehurst School, which is 10 minutes away. The closest secondary school is Mascall's Academy in Paddock Wood which is 8 miles away and New Line Learning Academy in Maidstone There is also a girls' and boys' day and boarding school, Bethany School, four miles from The Parsonage, which caters for 11- to 18-year-olds.
Leisure
When you want to catch the latest cinema releases, you only need to head to the local Odeon in Maidstone. The Putlands Sports and Leisure Centre is situated around eight miles from the development and houses a pool, gym, sauna and sports hall. There are also both indoor and outdoor pools at Tonbridge Swimming Pool. If you just want a gentle stroll round the lake, you can visit Haysden Country Park, which is about 30 minutes from The Parsonage. There are also great walks over farmland and beautiful apple orchards and vineyards. Closer to home there is the Atlas Eco Gym in Marden.
Shopping
Whether you are looking for the latest high street fashions or a one-off piece from a boutique retailer, you will find it all in the area around Marden. Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells offer many independent and favourite shopping brands. Maidstone's shopping precinct has been pedestrianised in many areas and features indoor and open-air shopping centres housing all the well-known brands.
