The Area

One of Dorset's best kept secrets, Fifehead Neville sits in the Blackmore Vale alongside the River Divelish, some two miles South west of the pretty market town of Sturminster Newton. The name is derived from the old English for five hides of land, belonging to the Neville family, and was recorded in the Domesday Book, (1086) as Fifehide. The records show, that there were originally, eight households, for workers on the estate and the village has grown around the estate to approximately 56 households. If resting amongst the beautiful countryside is not enough the village offers excellent access to many pathways and foot paths, with many out door pursuits and field sports available within a short drive. Why not explore the little villages of the Fifeheads. You can discover a giant mausoleum in the churchyard and the packhorse bridge over the River Divelish (one of only a few surviving in the county). Pass the site of one of Dorset’s most impressive Roman villas, which has unearthed Roman jewellery, elegant stone columns and elaborate mosaics. Return via medieval track ways and wild woodland amongst the medieval landscape and legend of the magical White Hart at Kings Stag. The nearby market town of Sturminster Newton offers a wide variety of independent shops, eateries and public houses as well as two larger supermarkets, and both Doctors and Dental practices, here you will also find 'The Exchange' where you can take in a live music or comedy show, or join in with one of the many groups and societies which use this fantastic facility, there are larger towns slightly farther afield, including the County Town of Dorchester, or for refreshments closer to home you might try Plumber Manor or nearby are the Antelope Inn in Hazelbury Bryan and the Green Man in Kings Stag. There is also Olives et Al, near Sturminster Newton, which offers a huge choice of delicious picnic supplies
For those who like to participate in water sports, the world famous and renowned Jurassic Coast is only some 45 minutes away by car, here not only will you find an array of stunning beaches and coastal features, you might also use the opportunity to take advantage of Portland's Sailing Academy where many British Olympians hone their skills.

Outside

To the front of the cottage is a parking space for one vehicle and a border with a variety of flowering plants, steps lead up to a flagged area across the front of the house with a wrought iron hand rail and room for seating. To the side of the cottage, with a mature border of flowering plants and grasses, there is a pathway, with wooden gate leading to the fantastic south facing garden.
Here a flagged patio area sits adjacent to the property, with access to the kitchen, making this a wonderful spot to entertain on balmy summer days whilst you take in the stunning surrounding countryside which blends seamlessly into the garden. The garden also has a large lawn, with mature borders which are home to a wide variety of shrubs, fruit trees and flowers as well as a small wildlife pond and the original water well. This really is a magnificent spot, far away from the hustle and bustle of city life, with nothing to hear or see but nature!
Having a large rear garden leaves ample space to extend the property without compromising the use of the garden.

Accommodation

Approached along a quiet country lane the house is entered via Double Glazed Stable Door, leading into the warm, cosy yet spacious Sitting Room where there are many period features, and a wood burning stove to provide warmth and atmosphere in the colder months.
From the sitting room an open doorway leads into the family room, which is presently used as a home office, taking advantage of Fibre Broadband.
There is also a dining room with a terracotta tiled floor and an old range stove, (disconnected), in its' original alcove, The kitchen has all the space and work tops that are needed, with a range of wall and base units, and space for a large range cooker and space and plumbing for a washing machine. With double glazed windows above the stainless steel sink over looking the south facing garden you would struggle to find a nicer spot to volunteer for washing up duties! There is also a double glazed door leading out to the garden patio.
There is, further, a family bathroom on the ground floor, and a separate W/C.
Climbing the stairs to the first floor, there is a landing area with access to all three bedrooms and access to the well insulated loft area via a loft ladder. Here there are two double bedrooms and a single. The main bedroom has a feature wood paneled wall and a feature fireplace and magnificent views toward Bulbarrow Hill over open countryside.
