In the Owners’ Words

Hello! We’ve had the joy of living in our much-loved home in Horley for the past 12 years… If we weren’t planning a move abroad, we certainly wouldn’t be selling — we truly love this house and all the memories we’ve made here.

Some of our happiest moments have been hosting Christmases and summer gatherings with friends and family. The wraparound decking has been our go-to spot for summer barbecues, morning coffees in the sunshine, and alfresco dinners on warm evenings. We love the garden, especially the Bramley apple tree at its heart — we’ve made countless delicious desserts from its fruit and shared many an apple haul with friends and neighbours over the years.

The large kitchen and dining area is the heart of the home — perfect for entertaining. It’s a sociable space where we’ve enjoyed chatting with guests over a drink while preparing dinner. The bifold doors open directly onto the deck, making summer lunches outside effortless and bringing the outdoors in.

We also love the versatility of the layout. The living and family rooms offer the perfect balance between open and cosy. We installed glass doors between the two, so they can be left open to create a spacious flow for parties, or closed to create a snug living room while still enjoying a lovely view of the garden.

The downstairs bedroom has been a real bonus, allowing us to host elderly parents in comfort. With the nearby shower room and utility, it worked beautifully as a mini-annexe. It could just as easily be a playroom, games room, or even a home cinema — there are so many possibilities.

When we moved from central London, we didn’t know Horley well — but we’ve grown to love it. Everything is close by: The high street shops, cafés, hairdressers, and nail bars are all within walking distance. Families will appreciate having two schools on the road, and Riverside is our favourite place for morning walks — perfect for children and pets alike. We’ll also miss “Ye Olde Six Bells, ” our friendly local pub just a short stroll away, known for its great food and warm atmosphere.

One of the things that surprised us most when we first viewed the house was how peaceful it is. Despite being close to Gatwick, we were amazed by how quiet the area feels. The location is wonderfully convenient for holidays and for hopping on the train into London or down to Brighton. With the planned new runway at Gatwick, we expect Horley will see further investment, giving the area great potential for future value growth.

We could honestly talk about this home all day. It’s been a truly special place for us, and we hope the next owners will enjoy it just as much as we have.
