Far-reaching rural views
The Old Vicarage, built in 1884, is a very well-presented and immensely handsome detached family house which retains much of its original character and charm. Occupying a wonderfully elevated position and surrounded by outstanding rural views, The Old Vicarage offers the perfect configuration for family living and entertaining.
An impressive entrance hall creates an excellent first impression with the elegant sitting room, dining room and office leading directly off. The kitchen/breakfast room is an impressive size and has an oil-fired Aga as well as a cellar beneath breakfast area. A pantry, cloakroom/utility room and rear lobby with boiler/boot room & large storeroom all provide substantial additional storage and complete the ground floor accommodation.
The principal bedroom, on the first floor, has a large walk-in dressing room and en suite shower room and there are three further double bedrooms on the first floor along with two bath/shower rooms (one of which is en suite). On the top floor and flanking a large open landing, with space for sofas/TV, are two further double bedrooms and an additional bathroom.
The Old Vicarage is not listed.
The spectacular gardens to the front and rear are primarily lawned and filled with an abundance of plants, shrubs, trees and flowers which all add to the charm of The Old Vicarage.
There are several idyllic and peaceful areas to entertain al fresco including a beautiful terrace at the front of the house and a larger terrace within the rear garden that sits adjacent to the summer house.
Immediately above the rear garden is the woodland which, like the gardens, is regularly maintained.
In all approximately 2.5 acres.
Sitting alongside the house is the coach house with its vaulted ceiling, tack room, hay loft and garage. There is also a large storeroom and immediately outside there is ample parking for cars, including an electric car charging point.
Compton Abdale is a very pretty village in the heart of The Cotswolds with its historic church, dating from the early 1400’s, and active village hall. The traditional market town of Northleach is about 4 miles to the east and Cirencester is about 13 miles to the south, providing an excellent choice of shops, restaurants and supermarkets.
The nearest regional centre is Cheltenham, approximately 10 miles away, which also offers excellent shopping and cultural facilities.
Communications are good with the A40 being about a mile to the north which links Cheltenham and Oxford. The A417 from Cirencester leads directly to Junction 15 of the M4
