Popular Village Setting
Nestled in the heart of the pretty village of Hemerdon, Toad Hall, Western Row combines character charm with modern upgrades, creating the perfect balance of traditional and contemporary living.
The cottage welcomes you via a porch with space for coats and shoes, leading into the charming open-plan lounge/dining room. Bursting with character, this inviting space features exposed beams, a feature electric fireplace, and a front-facing window with village views. Stairs rise to the first floor, while a door leads through to the kitchen.
The kitchen has been stylishly refurbished with a smart range of units, integrated appliances, and clever use of space. From here, a door opens onto the rear garden, while an internal door leads into the newly fitted shower room, which includes a corner shower, low-level WC, hand wash basin, and useful built-in storage.
Upstairs, there are two generously sized double bedrooms. The main bedroom enjoys a large front window with open views across the village and surrounding countryside, plus a feature fireplace and built-in wardrobe. The second bedroom overlooks the rear garden and includes additional storage, along with housing for the hot water system.
The property has been significantly improved in recent years, including renewed double glazing (2021), a new roof, redecorated interiors, updated kitchen, shower room, and modern economy 7 heating.
The property boasts a large, landscaped rear garden, beautifully designed to make the most of its sunny aspect. With two decked seating areas, a level lawn, and a courtyard area directly accessed from the kitchen, the garden provides superb space for outdoor dining, entertaining, or simply relaxing. From the top of the garden, enjoy stunning elevated views stretching across Plympton and beyond. The garden enjoys sun throughout the day and into the evening in the summer months. This charming cottage, set in a sought-after semi-rural location with Dartmoor on the doorstep, is an ideal retreat for those seeking character, comfort, and convenience. Viewing is highly recommended.
Owners’ Comment
“We’ve absolutely loved living in Hemerdon – it’s such a special place with a real sense of community. There are regular village events, a welcoming pub at the heart of things, and lovely people who make the village feel warm and friendly. Being so close to Dartmoor has given us endless countryside walks, while Plympton is just minutes away with its schools, health centre and amenities, and Plymouth itself is nearby for easy commuting. It really is the best of both worlds – village life with everything you need close at hand.
When we moved here, we set about creating a true cosy cottage. We’ve refurbished the property throughout, making it comfortable, stylish and practical, while keeping that cottage charm we fell in love with. The garden has become a space we’ve really enjoyed too. We’ll miss not just the house, but the people, the community spirit, and everything this location has offered us.”
