About this property
Historical Characterful Cottage
2/3 Bedrooms
Bespoke Oak Kitchen
Vaulted Reception Room with Woodburner
South Facing Garden
Church Cottage which was originally the Coach house for the 13th Century Church House Inn opposite, and which traditionally was there to house those working on St Andrews Church next door, so it is right at the heart of this very popular South Hams village.
The cottage has two front doors into the reception rooms at each end of the house and are at either side of the kitchen which forms the heart of the home in the centre. So, approaching from the left, one enters a wonderful vaulted reception room which is triple aspect and has a large fireplace with wood burner as its focal point with a glazed door leading out to the garden. With a staircase to the first floor and two steps down to the ground floor bedroom and bathroom this beautiful room has much charm, light and character.
From here a door leads through to the kitchen which has slate floors, exposed stone walls, and has been fitted with a bespoke oak kitchen of base and wall units plus has space for a dining table. There is large Rangemaster stove with double ovens and a Belfast sink plus plenty of space for all appliances.
Continuing through is the second reception room/Bedroom 3 which has a vaulted ceiling that affords it a real sense of space and being dual aspect it is wonderfully light and bright too. With some exposed stone walls and an electric ‘wood burner ‘ style stove it is also full of charm.
On the first floor reached via steps leading up from the reception room is the main bedroom with luxury en suite shower room which is fully tiled and immaculately presented. The bedroom is dual aspect, so benefits from village and rural views and it has a small fireplace plus part exposed stone walls.
Also from the reception room are flagstone steps down to the family bathroom which is fully tiled and has a freestanding slipper bath and heated towel rail, plus there is also Bedroom 2 which is dual aspect and has lovely garden views.
Outside
The garden can also be reached via a side gate and is a level walled garden with large lawn plus a flagstone and wooden decked terrace which benefits from stunning views over the village to the fields beyond. The church makes a wonderful backdrop to the garden and yet it feels very private despite its central location. Just outside the gate is a covered bin area.
