Tucked away on Marley Way, this cleverly extended four bedroom terrace pairs clean modern finishes with a practical layout, giving you easy living close to Rochester’s historic High Street, the station and the river. The frontage sets the tone with a wide driveway for two cars and a bay window that floods the lounge with morning light. Inside, soft neutral tones, original timber doors and a crisp dado line create a calm backdrop for everyday life.

At the rear, the reworked kitchen diner is the heart of the home. Exposed painted ceiling joists add character, three warm pendant lights draw the eye over the island, and a sleek hob set into the worktop keeps the conversation flowing while you cook. A side door opens straight out to the garden, handy for summer suppers and muddy boots. Off the hall, a contemporary ground floor shower room serves guests and busy mornings with ease, finished with large format tiles, a walk-in enclosure and a statement basin.

Upstairs are four bedrooms arranged around a bright landing. The main bedroom is a comfortable double, two further rooms work well for children or guests, and the fourth is ideal as a nursery or compact home office. A neat first floor cloakroom means no midnight trips downstairs.

The garden has been landscaped into tiers, ready for planting and play, with brick and timber detailing, fruit trees and broad sky views over the neighbouring rooftops. It is an honest outdoor space, enclosed and low maintenance, with plenty of scope to personalise.

Double glazing, gas central heating and an overall footprint of around 777 sq ft complete the picture. From here you can wander down to the castle and cathedral, meet friends on the High Street, pick up fast rail links to London from Rochester station, and make the most of riverside walks and well regarded local schools. It is a home that works hard in all the right places, with character where it counts and convenience on tap.

Rochester boasts an abundance of History and is heavily connected to Charles Dickens, the Dickens festival being one of a number of themed weekends held in the high street throughout the year. The cobbled high street is a huge attraction for its independent boutique shops, quaint cafe’s, highly recommended restaurants and traditional pubs. Rochester Cathedral and Castle sit on the edge of a sweeping bend of the River Medway. Whilst famous for it’s historical connections, Rochester has also seen significant new riverside development in recent years, making it attractive from a lifestyle and commuting perspective. Its newly built station offers High Speed rail links to Stratford International in 30 minutes or St Pancras International in 38 minutes. London Victoria is also accessible in just 52 minutes. Trips to the continent are also within easy reach via the Eurostar, which departs from nearby Ebbsfleet. In any part of the town you are never too far from road links, the A2 and M2 are easily accessible in under 5 miles. With the M20 and M25 approximately 10 miles away. Rochester and near-by Chatham offer a fantastic range of primary and secondary schools, as well as the University of Greenwich, Kent and The Creative Arts.

What the owners say:

We absolutely love this house! We’ve called it home for 29 wonderful years, and being only the third owners makes it feel extra special, as if we’ve been part of its story. It’s been the perfect place to raise our three children, who all grew up here. We’d walk to the Co-op almost every day, and the kids went to the nearby schools which made life simple and connected. We used the garden mainly for entertaining and growing fruit and vegetables as we used the local parks with basketball, tennis courts and play areas The house has always had plenty of space for entertaining friends. Best of all, we’ve had the most incredible neighbours, who’ve made living here feel safe, secure and have become great friends. It’s been the perfect place to raise a family, full of memories and warmth.
