Brickworks says

This 1936 Art Deco beauty has all the swagger of its era, softened by the warmth of a beloved family home. Surrounded by a garden that’s yours to wander, original features abound-curved Crittal-style windows that flood the rooms with light, parquet flooring, and fireplaces that have stood the test of time. There’s a wonderful balance here; character in spades, but also the sort of practicality that makes family life tick - a pantry, utility room and separate study. Plus, a garage with loft space, which makes room for hobbies, tinkering, or hiding from chores. There's also an EV charger on the external garage wall.

The kitchen is the true heart-spacious enough for cooking, conversation and the everyday hustle of family life, with an Aga that promises warmth and delicious meals. Double doors open to the garden, a space designed for pottering, growing, and long summer suppers. The current owners have selected a colour palette inspired by the original stained glass, creating vibrant, characterful rooms that feel naturally welcoming.

Seaside heritage meets a creative buzz in Ramsgate, with independent shops, cafés, and the harbour just minutes away. There’s space here for the daily rhythm of family life and those longer, lazier days when the garden, greenhouse, and shed are all you need. It’s a house that knows how to work hard and play hard-just like Ramsgate itself.
The owners say

We love this unique house and have been proud to be able to make sympathetic improvements to it over time.

We still take great pleasure in all the lovely original details; our favourites are the walk-in airing cupboard, the keys in the interior doors, and the original tiling in the downstairs WC. Having a tunnel shelter in the garden is a great talking point too!

Recent work:
The windows have been replaced with Crittall-style aluminium ones, and the leaky old cast iron gutters have been swapped for aluminium versions that maintain the same traditional profile. The brickwork was completely repointed, and the tired patches of flat roof have been replaced. A new roof lantern was installed in the study, and the metal garage door was exchanged for a wooden one that's more in keeping with the period style. In the garden, quite a transformation was also carried out, with the addition of raised vegetable beds and a greenhouse being added to the mix.

Getting around:
Ramsgate train station is a 20-minute walk away, where a fast service gets you into London in 1 hour and 14 minutes. The area’s newest station, Thanet Parkway, is a 10-minute drive and is used by locals for the 1-hour 9-minute journey into London (parking is also readily available). Getting around the area to explore Ramsgate, Margate, and Broadstairs is a breeze, with the Loop bus service just a short walk away. Alternatively, you can hop onto the nearby cycle routes to get to Ramsgate and the neighbouring seaside towns at your own pace.

Schools:
There's a good mix of schools in the nearby area. Ramsgate Arts Primary is well regarded among local families, blending core subjects with a strong arts curriculum that encourages creativity and resilience. Meanwhile, Ramsgate Holy Trinity C of E Primary emphasises faith-based values. For older pupils, The Royal Harbour Academy offers an International Baccalaureate framework, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and global perspectives. Chatham & Clarendon Grammar is also a popular choice, providing a selective and academically rigorous route with solid preparation for higher education.

Onward plans:
The current owners are actively looking for their next home in the wider area.

Anything else:
It's a lovely walk to the Boating Pool-it started life as a sunken bandstand, it now serves as a pool for pedalos and model boats. There's a bar there serving pizza during the summer, and a café open all year round. Plus, an open-top bus service stops by it over the summer, making for a fun trip with the kids-it’s a novel way to ‘sight-see’ your local area.
