About this property
Private Roof Terrace
Who needs a garden when you’ve got a roof terrace like this? Set on historic Nevada Street
right next to Greenwich Park, this two-bedroom flat has jaw-dropping views of Canary Wharf
and the Cutty Sark, a front-row seat to fireworks and jazz nights, and period character inside to
match.
The open-plan living and kitchen area is made for hosting drinks and dinner - dual-aspect
windows keep it bright, and original woodwork from the building’s seafaring past adds character
above the front door and where the TV now sits. The kitchen has rich, wooden countertops from
Zambroni, a recently updated tap and plumbing, and a view straight onto Greenwich Park -
cooking while looking out at trees and sky is a pleasure you’ll never tire of.
The main bedroom is comfortable, with a built-in wardrobe, and just as light, with two sets of
sash windows and a leafy outlook. The second bedroom is currently set up as a home gym, but
it easily doubles as a guest room when friends stay over. An adorable study with painted
exposed brickwork makes working from home a pleasure, with a fireplace dressed with candles
for autumn evenings and wide views over Greenwich and Canary Wharf. The bathroom is cosy,
but well laid out, with a window framing more skyline views.
And then there’s the roof terrace – the showstopper. It spans the entire footprint of the flat and is
set up for entertaining, with outdoor sockets for lighting or music and a tap to keep plants happy.
All-day sun makes it perfect for long lunches and sunset drinks. From here, you can see
fireworks on Saturday nights, and it’s a great base for concerts at the Old Royal Naval College.
The flat sits in a handsome Grade ii-listed building, said to have been designed for ship
captains to stay while their vessels were docked in Greenwich. There’s history everywhere;
nowhere is it more evident than in the original beams in the kitchen and study. Film buffs will like
to know that scenes from Steve McQueen’s Blitz (Apple TV) were shot right outside in 2023.
Location-wise, it’s hard to beat. Greenwich Park is literally on your doorstep for morning runs or
riverside jogs that can take you all the way to the Millennium Dome. Greenwich station is about
a seven-minute walk, with trains to London Bridge in under ten minutes and quick connections
to Cannon Street, Charing Cross and the DLR for Canary Wharf or Bank. Blackheath, with its
independent cafés and weekend brunch spots, is a gentle 15–20 minute walk through the park.
Nevada Street itself is quiet during the week, then comes alive at weekends with a friendly buzz.
Greenwich Tavern, Ye Old Rose & Crown and Oliver’s Jazz Bar are seconds from the front
door, and Heaps, a legendary sausage café, is at the end of the street. (The Big Heaps Bap
might just be the best breakfast in London.) Gail’s bakery and the outstanding Korean spot,
London Naru, are even closer for coffee or an easy supper.
It’s a home that captures the best of Greenwich: Historic, lively and beautifully connected, with a
private roof terrace that will make you fall in love with London all over again.
If you’d like to see it for yourself, give us a call, but don’t be surprised if you start planning your
move before you’ve even left the roof terrace.
