Description
Stedham Hall is a magnificent and imposing country house, with a fascinating history. Approached via a long private driveway, the building is most impressive and contains a selection of nine apartments of varying size. The apartments were created in the early 1970’s but the origins of the building date back to 1525 when it was an Elizabethan manor house. The hall was remodelled in 1845 by the early Victorians and many period features were removed or hidden. The house we re-built and extended by John Scrimgeour in 1910-1915 using the Scottish architect John Malcolm – he restored much of the hidden panelling and resurrected the building in the original style. Mr Scrimgeour was a benefactor of Stedham and built many houses in the village.
This apartment is on the top floor and offers fantastic space. From the hall you have access to all three double bedrooms, kitchen with fully fitted units, a sizable separate utility room. A study/nook leads through to the living/dining room stretching over 42 feet. The apartment offers an en suite shower room to the principal bedroom as well as a separate bathroom, and sizable airing cupboard.
Given its elevated position, there are some wonderful views to be enjoyed, both of the grounds and also rural areas beyond. The property is well presented, having been well maintained by the current owners. The grounds including rare tree species are a particular feature, being beautifully maintained and complimenting the grandeur of the house. The garden team have been in place at Stedham Hall for over 20 years.
Stedham Hall benefits from an allocated car parking space in front of the hall, a garage and a shared communal parking area.
