What the Owners love ❤️
We've loved living in Sandford lodge as a family and will be sad to leave this beautiful place. The grace and elegance of the house, typically Georgian is simply stunning. We love the proportions of the rooms with their large windows and beautiful original features. We have all the space we need for our family with the three reception rooms, including the cellar, which we use as a second family room. It's been a great home for gatherings and celebrations!
Then there's the real connection the house has with Wallingford's history: Amongst the first owners were some of the Pettit family, who ran a department store in town for over 150 years. But the thing we love most is the sense of community and friendship, not just with our wonderful neighbours, but also with the wider Wallingford area. We've lived in the town for 20 years, nine of those at Sandford Lodge and we couldn't imagine moving anywhere else.
Houses like this don’t come along often. Bursting with period charm and character, Sandford Lodge is an exceptional example of early 19th-century architecture. Set on one of Wallingford’s most desirable roads, the property exudes presence and elegance; its grand doorway reminiscent of those found along the streets of Belgravia.
Step through the front door and you’re greeted by a beautiful window that floods the entrance hall with natural light. Original features throughout offer a glimpse into the home’s rich history, making this a truly special residence. A masterpiece of its time that continues to stand proudly along Reading Road.
The house is made for entertaining. The dining room opens directly onto the private courtyard garden, perfect for dinner parties while the kitchen provides a more relaxed setting for family meals. The spacious living room invites you to unwind, whether you’re reading by the large window or enjoying a quiet evening in. Downstairs, the cellar offers a versatile additional room ideal as a children’s den or second family space.
Two graceful staircases lead to the upper floors, where you’ll find five bedrooms arranged for maximum flexibility. The middle floor offers three bedrooms and a family bathroom, while the top floor provides two further bedrooms, perfect for guests or a home office.
Outside, the low-maintenance courtyard garden is a private and quiet space made for summer evenings. To the rear, a large garage provides excellent storage, with potential to adapt into a car port for additional off-street parking.
Backing onto Squires Walk, the home offers easy access to the Paddocks playfield which is perfect for a quick morning stroll with the dog or a weekend runaround with the children.
Sandford Lodge offers a rare opportunity to own a home full of life, history and charm; the perfect place to raise a family within a vibrant market town and welcoming community.
