Introduction & Exterior

Available with No Upward Chain, this Link Detached home in the sought-after village of Longdon between Lichfield and Rugeley will prove extremely popular to those seeking a long term move to a large bungalow. The property holds an elevated position set away from the beginning of Brook End bend a long driveway and vast front lawn offering potential for even more parking if needed.

The driveway precedes a garage that has an up and over door to enter and has been part converted at the rear to allow space for a shower room – more on this below. To the left of the bungalow is a gated passage that features a flagstone patio laid around the conservatory, past a raised pond and around to the rear of the property where there is a huge area for an outdoor furniture set. A brick retaining wall with steps to the far right separates the patio from the large raised lawn. Trees, mature shrubs and tall wooden fencing provide the boundaries to keep the garden lovely and private.

Bungalow Interior

Guests enter the home into a long corridor hallway that has two doors to the left to enter the dining room and kitchen, two doors to the right to enter the garage and shower room, and a door at the far end to exit straight out to the patio. As mentioned above, the rear part of the garage has been borrowed to extend what was a WC to a shower room which is very welcome for those who enjoy gardening, enjoy outdoor activities such as cycling, or own a dog as it makes a great place to wash without needing to travel through the main interior.

The dining room is the central hub of the property with doors leading off to the kitchen, lounge, third bedroom and inner hallway. There is also a handy storage cupboard. The dining room is easily large enough to hold a family dining table and is lovely and bright owing to a tall window to the side.

The kitchen features a delightful modern suite with soft-close units fitted to all four walls and includes a chest-height double oven, four ring electric hob with overhead extractor fan. The one-and-a-half-bowl sink with drainer is positioned ahead of the window looking out to the rear patio. Clear spaces are available for a dishwasher or washing machine and a fridge freezer, and there is a storage cupboard located to the front left.

The lounge is a very impressive size measuring at over 17 feet long. With dining taken care of in a separate room, this is a really good space for arranging a sofa suite and entertainment unit around the chimney and gas fireplace, which is currently out of service. The property has a gas central heating system with efficient radiators.

The bedrooms begin with bedrooms one and two which are double bedrooms positioned side by side at the front of the home. Bedroom one is the larger of the two and includes a built in wardrobe. The other bedroom to have a built-in wardrobe is bedroom three which also has a set of French doors that open to the conservatory at the side of the bungalow. The conservatory is a great space with a pitched poly-carbonate roof and another set of French doors providing an exit to the front of the side passage.

The final room in this home is the family bathroom. This is a wonderful modern suite that comprises of an L-shaped bathtub with screen and electric storm shower fitted above, toilet, chrome heated towel radiator and a wash basin atop a storage cabinet.

Transport links

Longdon Village is located on the A51 between Lichfield in the south and Rugeley in the north. The A51 continues beyond Rugeley towards Stone, Stoke and Stafford, as well as south beyond Lichfield to Tamworth. Just south of Lichfield there are further travel links to Birmingham via the A38, and also the M6 Toll road.

The best train station for the new owners to use is Rugeley Trent Valley railway station. There are split level platforms as the station is part of both the West Coast Mainline and Chase Line. This means there is access to major UK destinations such as London, Birmingham, Liverpool & Manchester to name a few, as well as destinations in the midlands including Walsall and Cannock. Alternatives are found in Lichfield.

There isn’t currently a bus service serving Longdon.

Schools & amenities

For shopping, the village is midway between Lichfield and Rugeley, with Cannock not being much further. These three have a good city/town centres, a plethora of supermarkets, retail parks and the latter has the popular McArthur Glen designer outlet. The village has the popular Swan With Two Necks public house.

The village is served well by St James Church of England Primary School a short distance from this home on Brook End. The secondary school catchment is The Friary School in Lichfield, for which there is a school bus service. Although we have researched this information, parents are advised to confirm catchment via the local authority.
