A very attractive period barn conversion, in this well regarded semi-rural location, between Ticehurst, Stonegate and Etchingham.
Description
Originally used as an agricultural barn by the impressive neighbouring period property, King Johns Lodge, this very attractive building was successfully converted by the previous owners and now updated by selling clients, making for a fine, up-to-date character home.
The property cleverly combines the best of old and new, with generously proportioned light-filled open-plan living accommodation, along with character features including an abundance of exposed beams and the impressive reception/dining hall with its vaulted ceiling, bespoke staircase and galleried landing.
Nice touches include the oak and tiled floors downstairs, the wood burning stove, the Lutron lighting system and the recently fitted, stylish, open-plan deVOL kitchen, along with the modern bath and shower rooms. The kitchen is fitted with high-quality appliances including two Neff ovens, a Fisher & Paykel French-style fridge freezer, two Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawers, a Faber induction hob with downward extractor, and a Quooker hot tap.
Outside, there are mature well screened grounds, with a long private, gated approach drive, and delightful well designed gardens, a rear terrace and two outbuildings, one being the old peacock house used as a garden store and the other being near the house, off the terracing, which is set-up as an additional room, ideal as a separate home office or gym.
The garden surrounding the barn comprises an old apple orchard with a wildflower lawn, cottage-style planted borders, and mown paths leading to numerous places to sit. Accessed directly from the kitchen door is a newly landscaped, charming informal garden with gravel paths and a further secluded seating area, creating a perfect setting for relaxation and outdoor entertaining.
