Located in the ever-popular Prestonville neighbourhood of Brighton, this beautiful three-bedroom terraced home has been lovingly owned by the same family for thirty years. During that time, it has evolved and grown with them with every room reflecting care, attention to detail, and a wonderful sense of character.

Even before you step inside, the house makes an impression. A well-kept front garden frames a pink painted façade and mint-green front door, while the delicate house number above hints at the period features that await within.

Inside, a bright hallway welcomes you, where original stripped wooden floors run seamlessly through the ground floor. To the right, an open-plan living and dining room is divided only by a charming exposed beam. A bay window at the front fills the space with natural light, softened by greenery from the garden outside. The living room centres around a cosy log-burning stove, perfect for winter evenings, while the dining room enjoys leafy views over the rear garden and rooftops of Brighton beyond. A handy built-in cupboard provides discreet storage.

At the rear of the house lies a bright and modern kitchen, fitted with sleek grey gloss units and generous worktop space. A useful understair cupboard serves as additional storage or a pantry. From here, a door opens to the low-maintenance rear garden, complete with neat borders, a decked area, artificial grass, and garden shed. The space is private, not overlooked, and perfectly positioned to enjoy a peaceful outlook all to yourself.

Upstairs, carpeted stairs lead to the first floor, where you’ll first find the spacious family bathroom with a large bath and shower over, and a picture window framing a view of the London Road Viaduct, where you can watch the trains come and go.

Also on this level are two equally charming bedrooms. The rear bedroom enjoys that same elevated view and features an original fireplace and built-in wardrobe. At the front, the larger bedroom has another beautiful fireplace, two built-in wardrobes, and a bright bay window overlooking the street. This bedroom is a generous space with plenty of room for a desk or reading nook.

The loft conversion, completed in 2016, has transformed the top floor into a peaceful principal suite. Neutral, bright, and airy, it features a large picture window with sweeping views across Brighton, complemented by two Velux windows at the front. There’s an elegant en suite shower room and useful eaves storage, completing this tranquil retreat away from the bustle of everyday life.

A note from the owners

We bought our home 30 years ago! The panoramic view from the back of the house was breathtaking and continues to be so. We loved the light, large rooms and the friendliness of the local community. The proximity to the Dials, train station and central Brighton was also a draw. Since starting a family 18 years ago we've also really valued the local parks, schools, and Sixth Form Centre. More recently the Exeter Street Hall and Port Hall Stores have added even more value to the area (Charlie's coffees and wine selection are pretty impressive!). It's a lovely home and not one that will be easy to leave.

The area

Tucked on the hillside just behind Brighton Station, Prestonville is a friendly, close-knit neighbourhood known for its community spirit and long-established sense of belonging. This row of Victorian terraces sits on a predominantly owner-occupied street where many residents have lived for years, creating a warm, settled atmosphere.

Local pubs are a real highlight: The much-loved Prestonville Arms, the Shakespeare’s Head (famous for its sausage and mash), and The Chimney House for something a little more refined. Seven Dials is only a short stroll away, with North Laine just beyond - making cafés, boutiques and independent shops wonderfully convenient.

At the heart of the community is the local community centre hosting classes, workshops and seasonal markets throughout the year, alongside the very well-stocked Port Hall Stores just up the road. Life Fit Complete gym is close by, offering fitness and yoga classes.

Green spaces are plentiful, with Dyke Road Park and Preston Park located nearby - perfect for walks, weekend sport or even watching the city’s fireworks from home. Brighton Station is around an eight-minute walk, and the seafront is roughly 15 minutes downhill (a touch longer on the return).

Schools

Families are well served too, with highly regarded schools for all ages within easy reach, including Stanford Infants and Juniors, Cardinal Newman, bhasvic and Brighton Girls.
