What the owner loves:

I have lived at 9 Highview Road for over 50 years. The house is very different now to when I moved in with my husband. Together we undertook renovations in the 1990s and turned it into our dream home. We installed timber floors, which are a major feature of the house, as they reminded me of my childhood in the Netherlands. They also provide the background for my antique furniture which I have collected over the years.

The south-west facing rear garden means that the house is full of light every afternoon and evening making the living room and kitchen bright and sunny. This large and connected space is where my husband and I shared meals and spent the evenings together. That meant I could turn the large room at the front of the house into my ‘music room’ which is where I learnt to play the violin in my retirement.

I turned the top of the house into my art studio because high light levels are required for botanical painting. While I indulged in this hobby my husband would hide away in the third bedroom we grandly called ‘the library’ where he kept his enormous collection of books on military history. The house belonged to his parents before I moved in so his emotional attachment to No 9 was very strong and I think the house has a sense of this continuation.

Many neighbours have come and gone over this long period but it continues to be a very friendly street with an active WhatsApp group and people always ready to lend a hand if necessary. We have held street parties in the summer where everyone can get together and get to know each other.

With the opening of the Elizabeth Line station at West Ealing it takes no time to get into Central London and Canary Wharf. The local E1 bus stop is nearby and runs a frequent service to Ealing Broadway which is well served by underground and overground services. There are various options to get to Heathrow Airport making it an excellent base to reach all parts of London.

I will be sad to leave but it is now time to hand the keys over to others who will, hopefully, cherish No 9 as much as we did.

Why We Would Buy This Home:

Walking into this house, you feel the decades of love poured into it. For over fifty years, the current owner further shaped it's warmth and atmosphere, supplementing the existing charm of an undeniably beautiful period home.

The house proudly but quietly boasts generous proportions, original charm & architecture, and a beautiful west-facing garden that bathes the rooms in golden afternoon sunshine. It feels less like bricks-and-mortar and more like a quietly accumulated warmth; and though a new owner will doubtless bring their own style, the energy and history here give the place an authenticity you won’t easily replicate elsewhere.

On the practical side, it sits just a few steps from the Elizabeth line - London’s relative magic carpet for commuters - opening up fast, easy journeys into central London or out to Heathrow. You’re also within easy reach of leafy parks, excellent local schools, and the amenities of nearby shopping and dining hubs on The Avenue, villagy Pitshanger Lane or the bustling Ealing Broadway. Whether you stroll to the high-street or hop on the train after a busy day, you’ve got the balance: Suburban tranquillity and urban connectivity in one package.

There is also potential, to build on what’s come before, to extend or adapt as your needs change, while tapping into a vibrant, rooted local community. Buying this home isn’t just acquiring a beautifully kept, soulful, characterful property, it’s becoming part of a well-established neighbourhood with a genuine sense of connection.
