The Outlook is a fine coastal home, occupying an exceptional position at the top of the hillside above the picturesque Babbacombe Bay. Originally two cottages, it has been thoughtfully combined to create a spacious, versatile four-bedroom home. True to its name, The property enjoys sweeping views over the surrounding woodland and towards the waters of Lyme Bay. Outside, the property offers ample driveway parking, a single garage, and a generous garden, features rarely found in homes of this type and location.
Just a pebble’s throw away, the scenic Babbacombe Downs is home to the renowned funicular Cliff Railway, which connects the shingle beaches of Oddicombe and Babbacombe below. Babbacombe boasts a wide range of amenities, while neighbouring St Marychurch offers a vibrant pedestrianised shopping precinct, medical centres, and a selection of churches. Torquay Golf Club is virtually on your doorstep, with tennis, sailing, and bowls clubs all nearby. This truly is a remarkable home in a prime coastal location.

Owners' Insight
"It’s hard to believe The Outlook has been our home for fifteen wonderful years. When we moved toward retirement after selling our hotel in St Marychurch, we knew we wanted to stay close to the place we loved most. The small area around the Babbacombe Downs was the only place we could imagine ourselves, and when the chance came to buy The Outlook, we didn’t hesitate for a moment.
This home has given us an incredible lifestyle, perched above the beautiful Babbacombe Bay, with the Downs, the theatre, shops, and restaurants just a short stroll away. It has been a place of peace, joy, and everyday beauty.
Deciding to leave has been deeply emotional, but we know the time has come for us to downsize. We feel grateful that we are able to offer the house chain-free to the next people who will love it just as much as we have."
Step Inside
Approached via a private driveway, two steps lead to a half-glazed front door opening into a welcoming Entrance Porch with two windows and wood-effect flooring. A door opens into the spacious Sitting/Dining Room, a double-aspect space with views of both the garden and driveway, enhanced by charming exposed timber beams and a cosy fireplace. A separate Study, overlooking the driveway, offers a perfect space for home working or a snug retreat. The Dining Room flows into the bright Conservatory, featuring tiled flooring and a lovely outlook over the garden towards Lyme Bay. Double doors offer direct access to both the garden and driveway. From the Dining Room, a door leads to the Inner Hall with a ground floor WC, with potential to create a shower room. The Kitchen boasts a range of cream-fronted units with granite worktops, space for a range cooker, integrated appliances, and an island unit beneath a large skylight, filling the room with natural light.
Step Upstairs
Stairs from the Inner Hall lead to the first floor landing, with access to the loft. The spacious primary bedroom benefits from a double aspect, offering views over the woodland canopy and Lyme Bay beyond. It features built-in triple wardrobes, drawers, and a dressing table. The second bedroom overlooks the driveway and includes an en-suite with a large rain-head shower, wash basin, WC, and a cupboard housing the gas boiler. A ladder-style heated towel rail, wood-effect flooring, and an obscure glazed window complete the room. Bedroom three enjoys the open views towards Lyme Bay, while bedroom 4 overlooks the front approach. The family bathroom includes a 'P' shaped bath with an electric shower overhead, a wash basin set in a vanity unit with storage below, and a WC. Tiling to the walls, a ladder-style heated towel rail, wood-effect flooring, extractor fan, and natutral light from an obscure glazed window.
Step Outside
The property offers generous driveway parking for three to four cars, alongside a single garage, ideal for off-road parking and storage. Steps lead down to the rear garden, which is divided into two easily maintained areas with walled boundaries. One section is gravelled, while the other is laid to slabs, ensuring minimal upkeep. The garden also enjoys partial sea views through the trees toward Lyme Bay.
