Description
A beautifully presented contemporary style country house built in 2008 of timber framed construction with elevations of wood weatherboarding above a brick plinth, under a plain tiled roof. The house was extensively refurbished and improved by the current owners after purchasing in 2022, including a new ground source heat pump for the central heating which is underfloor to the ground floor, refinishing of the oak flooring, new cabinetry in the boot/utility room and pantry, upgrading of the kitchen, all four bathrooms were stylishly refitted to a high specification, and the swimming pool was relined with a new air source heat pump and cover. The accommodation is exceptionally versatile with the family room and bedroom with en suite on the ground floor interconnecting via pocket doors to provide a useful guest suite. In addition, the owners have built an excellent self-contained studio apartment over the double garage ideal for family, guest or staff use.
The front door opens into the reception hall with galleried landing over. The sitting room has a modern log burner, French doors to the terrace, and double doors to the magnificent open plan kitchen/ dining room. This features two full height glazed walls overlooking the garden each having French doors leading onto the terrace.
The well fitted kitchen area features a large central island, double Belfast sink, Falcon range cooker with extractor over, and a dishwasher. Leading off is a fully fitted larder/kitchen preparation area, with an American style fridge/ freezer. Adjacent is the utility/ boot room fitted with an extensive range of cabinets, one housing the washer and dryer, and an upholstered bench seating with shoe storage beneath. There is a door to the side and a cloakroom with basin and WC. Also on the ground floor is a family room with French doors to the side terrace. Pocket doors open into the fourth bedroom, ideal for guests, with a luxurious en suite shower room having a marble topped washstand basin, WC and glazed double shower.
From the hall a staircase leads up to the galleried landing. The beautifully appointed main suite has a generous bedroom with vaulted ceiling and French doors to a large balcony enjoying far reaching views across the gardens and grounds.
There is a walk in dressing room with shelves and hanging rails, and a spectacular bathroom with a freestanding bath, glazed shower, basin and marble topped washstand, WC and panelled walls. There are two further large double bedrooms, each with built in wardrobes, sharing the attractively fitted shower room, with a double shower, basin with storage beneath, and a WC.
Outside
An electric gated shingle driveway leads through the lightly wooded front garden up to an extensive parking area at the front of the house. Built just three years ago is the detached double garage with electric door and car charging point. Above is a spacious self-contained studio apartment having a fitted kitchen with oven, hob and fridge, and a shower room with shower, basin and WC.
The house is set in attractively landscaped and planted gardens which wrap around the house. There is a large L shaped decking terrace, a kitchen garden with raised beds and fruit trees, a timber framed greenhouse with grapevine, box and yew topiary, a wooded dell and children’s play area with zip wire, a good size heated swimming pool in a secluded, gated area, a hot tub and a detached timber clad garden office approached across a timber bridge. The gardens enjoy beautiful open views across the paddocks and farmland up the valley and beyond.
The grounds lie on the opposite side of the neighbouring farm driveway, arranged as several paddocks. There is a stable block and tack room. The whole plot extends to around 4.25 acres, of which about 2 acres are paddocks.
