Property Details

Open House Saturday 10th Of January, By Appointment Only Please Call To Book.

This charming cottage dates back over 300 years and was originally built as a worker’s cottage for the local mill, offering a rare opportunity to own a piece of local history. A photograph of the property from the 1800s is proudly displayed within the cottage, highlighting its heritage and enduring character.

The property offers significant potential for extension, in keeping with neighbouring homes along the road, with generous garden space providing ample scope to expand (subject to the necessary consents).

Both bedrooms comfortably accommodate double beds, making the layout practical as well as inviting. The fireplace currently features an electric fire belonging to the tenant; however, it could be converted to a traditional log burner if desired, further enhancing the cottage’s character.
Why the owner loves the property:
This was the first house I ever viewed when looking to buy my first home. I did look at many others but came back to buy this one.

I fell in love with the charm of the cottage, the natural stone walls, the massive fireplace with seating, the original beams and the quarry tiled floor in the kitchen dining room. It has so much character and no doubt many stories to tell from people living there over the centuries.

The cottage is an ideal first home and has great potential for being extended and reconfigured, like the other properties in Newland. It’s a short walk into town either via fields and the stream around the back, or on the main road. There’s a lovely park just opposite to the right and parking has always been easy in Pens Close opposite. There are also some great pubs within walking distance and we have the loveliest of neighbours.
