Note from the homeowner :
" Once upon a time - well, thirty years ago - my husband, our son, and I embarked on a mission in search of a new home. I drew a circle on a map and studied every potential property within it. Becoming disheartened, I called into a local estate agent and explained exactly what we were looking for.
The agent walked to the office window, pointed to a house literally across the road, and said, “What about this? It’s for sale, and it needs someone like you-young enough, with the energy and resources to give it the tlc it deserves.”
I viewed it with trepidation, expecting the worst. Entering through the courtyard and then into the garden, I was greeted by a magical, secret place that took my breath away. When I stepped into the house through the kitchen, it felt as though the home itself was calling to me. It was love at first sight.
Knowing better than to call my husband at work -but unable to resist -I phoned him anyway. When he answered, I blurted out, “i’ve found it! I’ve found it!”
“Found what?” he replied.
That evening we all came to view it, and we put in an offer. Knowing we were undertaking a monumental task, and believing this would be our long-term home, we adopted a belts-and-braces approach. We gave everything we had to that house- and in return, we were rewarded beyond measure.
There were adventures, parties, camping out, sleepovers, fundraising events, and the joy of accommodating our son’s dream of becoming the next big boy band. The stable became a studio - thank goodness it was far enough from the house, but near enough for us to keep an eye on things. We laughed, cried, and had the odd tantrum- but that’s life.
Our son went off to university and then ventured into the big, bad world to become independent.
Fifteen years ago, my husband sadly passed away. It was then that the house began to give back - keeping me safe, making me feel needed, giving me time to heal and a sense of purpose. I always felt I would know exactly when it was the right time to step into the next chapter of my life’s journey.
That time has come.
So now, as I turn the page with gratitude rather than regret, I step forward with love, memories, and hope.
Please wish me a happy ever after, as I do to you in this beautiful home.“
