About this property
" It took me less than 10 minutes to decide to move to Islington Road. It was the first and only house we looked at. The main draw was the long, south-facing garden, stretching back almost 60 feet from the French doors at the back of the dining room. I loved the sense of security. The rear of the property is completely enclosed with large gardens to left and right and the high, stone retaining wall along the back only adds to the sense of living in a private haven. Yet being located in the heart of the terraces, there is the feeling of truly belonging to the city and being part of a community. I’ve never tired of the view across to the suspension bridge or looking over the city from the loft windows. We’ve loved hosting barbecue parties in the garden and watching from the loft as the balloons make their morning ascent from Ashton Court during the fiesta. And throughout the spring and summer months, the bats that return to the garden night after night just after sundown. "
The home
A three bedroom mid terrace house which has a wonderful sized garden for the area and a versatile garden room which can be used as a home office. Downstairs there is an open plan living room/dining room with bay window looking out to the street and glass doors to the rear leading out to the garden. There is a galley kitchen at the rear of the house again with access to the garden through a lean too. Upstairs on the first floor are two double bedrooms and the family bathroom and the loft has been converted into a third bedrooms with plenty of storage in the eaves
The outside
The garden is thoughtfully arranged across multiple levels, featuring a patio directly off the house, ideal for summer barbecues. Steps lead up to a generous lawn area, which in turn opens onto a raised patio at the top of the garden, complete with a garden room. The garden room is an excellent size, with bi-fold doors that overlook the garden, along with two storage rooms. At the front of the house there is also an Asgard bike shed, a green roof bin store and a Victorian style path to the front door.
Living in Southville
Islington Road is a residential street in the heart of Southville. The house lies close to North Street, a hub for local independents, restaurants, and shops, including Michelin-recommended cor and other, coffee shops Sweven and Burra, and The Tobacco Factory - a café, bar, and theatre that hosts a bustling Sunday market.
A short stroll across Gaol Ferry Bridge (5 minutes) will take you to Wapping Wharf - a foodie destination set on the edge of Bristol’s historic Harbourside. Serving from converted cargo containers, you’ll find top Bristol independents including Gambas, Cargo Cantina, and Lapin. The city centre is a further 15 minutes on foot.
Southville is also known for its excellent school catchment area, with North Street Nursery, Magic Roundabout Nursery, Southville Primary, and Ashton Gate Primary all within walking distance of the house. Several parks are within easy reach of Islington Road, with Greville Smyth Park a short walk away and the sprawling Ashton Court Estate a further 20 minutes beyond - an expansive 850 acres of woodland and grassland that is home to the annual Bristol Balloon Fiesta.
