There is a primary school within Whiting Bay village as well as a selection of shops including a post office, pharmacy, two petrol stations, restaurants and a pub. Whiting Bay has its own 18 hole golf course, bowling green and a beautiful beach. The high school with a sixth form and early years classes is located 3 miles away in Lamlash, high school pupils are transported by bus during term time.
