The property
Parkview is a nicely proportioned Edwardian home, which is one of a pair of semi-detached properties built on the edge of Mistley Park in 1907.
The house was extended to the rear by a previous owner, giving it three well-proportioned reception rooms on the ground floor. Both the dining room and the sitting room have front-facing bay windows and log burners set within original fireplaces and the dining room, which is open-plan to the kitchen, also has a window seat fitted into its bay.
There are four bedrooms on the first floor with even the smallest being able to accommodate a small double bed; these share the use of a first-floor family bathroom and a ground-floor shower room.
The house has a boarded attic room which is accessible via a loft ladder and which takes light from a Velux window - this room makes for a good den or hobby room for children.
The house needs some decorative improvement having been let for a number of years but retains most of its Edwardian features including an original tiled floor in the hall, a storm porch, picture rails, recessed cupboards, a stained-glass front door and original fireplaces.
Grounds & outbuildings
At the front there is private driveway parking for up to five cars and a detached single garage.
The rear garden is a good size (measuring 44ft x 55ft) and is accessible from the utility room and via timber French doors from the family room. It includes a shed, a cedar-framed greenhouse, a large patio, raised beds and established hedges along the rear boundary.
Location
Parkview is located on School Lane in Mistley on a stretch of byroad which is usable, albeit unmade (please refer to Streetview).
The location is superb, with a woodland outlook to the front, virtually no passing traffic and plenty of walks on the doorstep - these include walks along the Stour riverside towards Mistley Towers and Manningtree Walls, or into the ancient woodland of the former Mistley Park - the home of “Old Knobbley”, a famous 800-year-old oak tree.
Services within half a mile of the house include Mistley Train Station, The Thorn Restaurant (which has recently opened an impressive new bar extension), The Mistley Café and Gallery, a decent village shop and a Primary School.
Manningtree is around a mile from the property, with its mainline station, Primary and Secondary Schools, a Saturday market and excellent pubs and restaurants. It was named by The Express in January 2026 as one of the coolest places to live in the UK.
