The property is approached via a double driveway providing ample off-road parking, with the front garden laid mainly to lawn, leading to a covered entrance area and into a spacious and welcoming entrance hallway that immediately sets the tone for the space and quality found throughout the home.
At the heart of the house is a light-filled double-aspect lounge, featuring a wood-burning stove and bespoke built-in cupboards and shelving. Double doors open directly onto the garden, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living.
The impressive double-aspect kitchen/dining room is equally well designed, with bi-fold doors opening onto the garden. The second floor offers two further generous double bedrooms, both benefitting from built-in eaves storage and Velux windows with far-reaching views over woodland to the rear. Served by a stylish ensuite shower room, this level is ideal as a principal suite, or for older children and guests, offering privacy and flexibility.
Outside, the beautifully landscaped, level rear garden is a real highlight, laid mainly to lawn with raised beds ideal for vegetables, berries, or cut flowers, complemented by flowering trees and established shrubs. The garden backs onto tranquil woodland beyond, with a gateway providing access to the woodland, creating a wonderful sense of privacy and a natural outlook. The garden also benefits from direct access to the double garage, which is equipped with power and excellent storage. This exceptional home combines modern design, generous living space, and a peaceful village setting, making it a rare and highly desirable opportunity.
Owners' Comments
We bought this house because it’s full of light, with big windows and a beautiful rural view at the back. Facing south–southwest, it gets sunlight throughout the day, which we love. It’s a spacious, three-story home with a big garage and a garden that’s enjoyable without being a chore—perfect for having family and friends visit.
The location is convenient, close to the A38 for work in Exeter or Plymouth, and the house is relatively new and energy-efficient with solar panels. After living in a Victorian flat with water issues, it was a relief to find a home in such good condition.
We’ll miss the garden and the woods behind, taking Harriet to play on the swings and slide, and seeing the bluebells in spring. The quiet here is incredible, with very little light pollution—at night, the sky is completely dark, and we’ve even seen the Northern Lights.
The community is wonderful too. Our neighbours are friendly and supportive, and there are lots of families with children around Harriet’s age. The location also offers lovely walks, the cobbled riverside path, swimming spots, and the tennis club just down the path, which has been a great way to meet people locally.
All in all, it’s the combination of light, space, location, and community that made this house perfect for us—and it’s what we’ll miss most.
