About this property
This one-bedroom apartment is on the first floor of The Timber Yard, a singular development designed by Sir Terence Conran in 2003. Tucked away on Drysdale Street, the apartment is just a few minutes from the bars, restaurants and shops of Shoreditch and Hackney, and is close to Old Street and Hoxton stations.
The Tour
The Timber Yard has a discreet gated entrance on Drysdale Road. This opens an immaculate private courtyard with secure bicycle storage. Its striking form is clad in honey-toned London stock brick, punctuated by sheets of aluminium-framed windows.
Entry to the apartment is on the first floor via lift or stairs. A wide entrance hall with tall ceilings provides space for storing coats and shoes. Smart poured resin flooring runs underfoot here and throughout, while full-height internal glazing looks into the open-plan living space beyond.
Filled with light pouring in through blocks of timber-framed windows, the main living area is subtly divided. In the kitchen, there is smart white cabinetry and a glass-topped island. There is a built-in Baumatic oven with a Zanussi hob and extractor fan.
A sliding door with frosted glass reveals a generous bedroom with plenty of glazing. There is plenty of room for a desk. The bathroom has large-format wall tiles and a walk-in rainfall shower with glass panelling.
A car parking space is available in the building's secure underground car park.
The Area
The apartment is an 11-minute walk from Columbia Road, which hosts its famous flower market on Sundays and is lined with excellent restaurants, including Brawn, Campania & Jones, and the Royal Oak pub. An outpost of Victoria Park’s favourite, Pavilion, is ideally placed for a coffee and a pastry. The street teems with brilliant independent shops, including Studio Wylder, Straw and Idle Moments.
Around the corner from Columbia Road is the iconic Arnold Circus. Here, Leila’s Café and Rochelle Canteen are perfect lunch spots. Rochelle School is also home to one of Maureen Paley’s art galleries. For shopping, Luna & Curious and Leila’s Shop are local favourites.
To the south-east, the vibrant Redchurch Street in Shoreditch is home to Brat, Smoking Goat, Jolene, Allpress and Dishoom. It is also an excellent shopping destination, with local branches of Soeur, apc, Aesop, Labour & Wait, Le Labo, Toast and Studio Nicholson. Hackney Road's bars, restaurants, and pubs are also near.
Hoxton Square Park is a two-minute walk from the apartment, with its iconic Stik sculpture. Shoreditch Park, Haggerston Park, Weaver’s Fields, Bethnal Green Gardens and Victoria Park are all also close.
Old Street station (Northern line) is a nine-minute walk away. Hoxton station is also close and runs Windrush line services. Liverpool Street station is a 16-minute walk away.
