Description
This delightful cottage, which benefits from a reed thatch and once housed the village post office, dates back to the 16th century and is full of charm and character. There is an abundance of period features throughout which include original brick and tile flooring, exposed timbers, inglenook fireplaces and casement windows. The beautifully presented accommodation is well laid out with five good size reception rooms, a pretty Shaker style kitchen with an exquisite vaulted dining area, a ground floor bathroom and separate shower room, a boot and store room, a study with views across the front gardens on the ground floor, and four bedrooms and a Jack and Jill bathroom on a split first floor. The large sitting room and dining room both enjoy open fireplaces and the kitchen also has an Aga, butler sink and wine cooler. Access to the first floor is via two separate staircases which provides versatile bedroom space, and the guest bedroom has its own wash basin.

Pryor's Cottage is situated on Field Road, a no-through road which leads off the pleasant village green in the centre of this small and popular village to the west of Cambridge. The neighbouring village of Bourn has many facilities including post office/shop, doctors surgery, nursery school, Cambridge Country Club, dentist and restaurant. There is a primary school in Bourn and the property is in the catchment area of Comberton Village College, a renowned secondary school.

The cottage is set in stunning, idyllic grounds which extend to 1.5 acres. The front garden is enclosed with pretty picket fencing and a gate which opens onto a cobbled path to the front door. To either side of the path are two areas of box hedging and a five bar gate opens to the driveway with a separate pedestrian gate. There is a timber garage with double timber doors to the front and a pedestrian door to the driveway. To the rear of the house there is a paved patio, ideal for secluded outside dining which benefits from superb views down the garden to the orchard/paddock beyond. There is a wood store and a timber barn, which has been transformed in to a den. The gardens are beautifully maintained and thoughtfully planted with well-established shrubs, mature trees and plants. To the back of the house is an outside WC and a cupboard for storage. A post and rail fence divides the rear garden from the orchard/paddock with a five bar gate giving useful access. For those interested in horses there is a stable block with two loose boxes and a covered storage area. Backing onto open countryside beyond, the orchard/paddock contains many fruit trees including apple, pear, quince, plum and greengage. This garden provides anything anyone could possibly need or require when purchasing a country property.
