History of Union Buildings, Hospital Hill:
Originally built around 1629 as a manor house for the Tichborne family, Union Buildings is one of Aldershot’s oldest surviving historic structures.
In the 19th century it became the Aldershot Workhouse before later being converted into a school. With the arrival of the British Army in 1854, the building was acquired by the War Department and transformed into a military hospital - giving the area its name, Hospital Hill.
After serving various military administrative roles and surviving both a major fire and wartime damage, the building was eventually restored and thoughtfully converted into the distinctive residential apartments seen today, retaining its character and architectural grandeur.
