Description
Woodpeckers is a very charming house situated in one of the area’s most picturesque residential roads. The property was built in 1928 and is an attractive example of the Arts and Crafts movement with a thatched roof and pretty whitewashed walls inset with lead light windows. The characterful house has a wealth of period features internally, including a large bay window in the sitting room and the original gas fire.
In 2023 the house was subject to a number of improvements, creating a high specification finish throughout. Of particular note is the open plan kitchen and dining room, which has soft grey painted cabinetry complemented by white work surfaces and stone tiled floors. The dining area includes a built-in seating nook and there are a wealth of integrated appliances, including a Quooker tap and a wine fridge. Additionally there is a utility room with space for laundry machines, a television room/snug and a large formal sitting room. A study and shower room complete the ground floor accommodation.
Upstairs the well-planned first-floor layout comprises a principal bedroom with dressing area and en suite shower room, two further en suite double bedrooms, a final double bedroom, a single bedroom and a family bathroom. In total there are five bedrooms and four bath/shower rooms, making the home ideal for a growing family.
Woodpeckers is situated on one of Cookham Dean’s most prestigious lanes; the setting of Woodpeckers offers a high degree of privacy and stunning views to the south west from an elevated position. Outside the main hedged boundary there is parking for a number of cars on a private driveway which leads up to a detached garage.
The gardens are a standout feature, extending to just over half an acre. They include a blend of formal landscaping and informal planting, with mature trees and boundary hedges providing natural privacy. Rolling lawns are complemented by substantial borders and flowerbeds brimming with a diverse array of flowering plants and herbaceous shrubs. In addition, a charming corner of ancient woodland adds character and depth to the setting.
There are a number of spaces for entertaining, including a large paved terrace and a separate gravelled area overlooking the lawn. The commanding position affords stunning views which make the setting feel both secluded yet fantastically spacious.
