Known historically as Hawthorn Cottage, the house was carefully and sympathetically renovated after its purchase in 2005/2006. Following approved planning permission, the owners undertook a full renovation and extension, completed in 2006 - a transformation commemorated in the carved lintel reading 1853–2006. Where possible, original features were retained and imaginatively repurposed.
