About this property

  • Fast access to London

A beautiful period house situated in an historic location with secluded river views and just 1.8 miles drive from Woking mainline train station.

The Old Vicarage offers both history and beauty, set in a classic English village setting, yet close to Woking town centre and station for fast access to London.

The exact age of The Old Vicarage is uncertain. Historic England state in the official Listing that the property dates from c1800 but other accounts suggest that the house is much older, possibly dating from 1690 on the site of an even earlier vicarage. When the family of the current owners purchased the property in 1959, it was listed in The Times as a Queen Anne House (1702 - 1714). It was likely built to accommodate vicars serving St Peter's Church opposite which is one of the country's oldest churches and mentioned in the Domesday Book, but ceased to be the official vicarage when it was sold in 1884.

The house is traditionally configured with an entrance hall, off which are two main principal reception rooms, the sitting and drawing/family room with sweeping views down to the river along with a dining room and study with kitchen to the rear.

Upstairs are four bedrooms, one en-suite, and additional family bathroom.

The gardens are particularly impressive, wrapping around the house with a large lawn leading down to the river bank where there is a stunning aspect across the water, providing a special country environment. There is space for private mooring at the foot of the garden.

The grounds include stores and sheds along with a double garage.

The house is set at the end of Church Street
being a cul-de-sac offering great privacy in a secluded location whilst being a short drive to Woking town centre and the fast transport links by train to London or via the M25 and A3.

Woking offers an abundance of restaurants, pubs, shopping areas, a multi-screen cinema and theatre, award winning museum and art gallery, a 24min train service to London Waterloo, AirLink bus service to Heathrow Airport and a leisure park with swimming pool and sports facilities. There are an abundance of golf courses within a 5 mile radius.

Please note the house is in need of renovation.
