Description
The Old House is listed Grade II and likely to have 17th/18th century origins. The building has part stone and part painted rendered elevations and well presented accommodation under a thatched roof. An entrance porch to the north provides access to a small hallway off which lies a study, a good size sitting room with an exposed brick inglenook fireplace. A well fitted kitchen with exposed ceiling timbers and another impressive inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove provides space for eating and sitting by the fire. A window seat with exposed stone adds charm and character. From the kitchen is access to a utility room and WC. On the southern elevation of the house is a particularly nice single storey garden room with a span of glazing and doors onto a terrace with exceptional, long range country views. Alongside the garden room is a playroom or possibly a gym. On the first floor, the landing has an attractive stripped wood floor and an exposed stone chimney breast. The main bedroom has a part vaulted ceiling with exposed ceiling timbers and en suite shower room. Three further bedrooms and a family bathroom complete the accommodation.
Outside
The property is situated on a no-through lane from which a gravelled driveway leads to an area of parking at the rear (south) of the house and access to an attractive oak framed garage block incorporating a workshop or store and open bay parking for two cars. Steps lead up to an extremely nice annexe or home office with a bedroom, shower room and sitting room, there is provision to add a kitchen area. Immediately to the south of the house is a large terrace and lawn which steps down to a further lower area of lawn on which a magnificent weeping Willow stands proudly. To the south east of the garden is the stable block and tractor store and enclosed yard. There is access from the north. On the southern boundary of the property is a paddock with separate access to the lane.
